Grade 7/8

le 23-27 mars
  • March 23-27th work on the Duolingo assigned activity for 10 minutes each day. Feel free to do more than 10 minutes if you like. The 5 activities will open at 9:00 am on Monday and are due by 4:00 on Friday.
  • Complete "Français music pop" on SeeSaw. Due Friday, March 27th.
  • Please attempt to complete any incomplete assignments over the official spring break time, but also make the best of the time that you have right now with family. Maybe you can teach a family member how to play "Go Fish" with the French card playing instructions I sent home.

le 6-9 avril
Bonjour à tous, j’espère que vous avez apprécié le temps passé en famille pendant la pause. Vous me manquez tous et je souhaite que nous puissions être à l’école, mais jusque-là, je suis heureux de voir ce que nous pouvons faire en ligne!

    • *Please go to SeeSaw and follow "all" directions on your assignment. Regardez vos notes "mes goûts musicaux" que nous avions fait en classe, et écrivez un paragraphe sur SeeSaw. Complétez ceci avant vendredi. (Look over your notes on "My Musical Tastes" that we had covered in class, and write a paragraph on SeeSaw. Some of you already began this during the last week of school. It is due before Friday.)
*Remember to conjugate verbs when needed and use the adverbs discussed in class: toujours, souvent, de temps en temps, rarement and jamais.

    • Duolingo- "Activities" will be assigned today and are due Thursday by the 4:00. There are 5 lessons in total that can be done at your own pace. *Please check out 'Stories' on the app to supplement learning and help with reading in French.
    • Jouer "Pige dans la lac" avec quelqu'un cette semaine. (Play Go Fish in French with someone this week.)
    le 14-17 avril
    • Duolingo- "People 2" will be assigned today and is due Friday by 4:00. There are 5 lessons in total that can be done at your own pace. *Please check out 'Stories' on the app to supplement learning and help with reading in French.
    • Complete "La chanson -Sure ma route" on SeeSaw. Due Friday, April 17.
    le 20-24 avril
    • Duolingo- "Family 2" will be assigned today and is due Friday by 4:00. There are 5 lessons in total that can be done at your own pace.
    • Choose 3 French songs from 3 different genres. (I suggest going on a top 10 list) Listen to each song in french without the lyrics and see how many words you can understand. Listen to the song again with lyrics and see how many words you can understand now that you can hear and read the lyrics. Write a short paragraph on each song discussing what you like or dislike 'present tense' about the song. (3 sentences minimum per paragraph. 2 sentences on what you like/dislike and 1 discussing what you think the writer is trying to portray)
Example: J'aime la chanson "Je Veux" par Zaz parce qu'elle a un bon rythme, et j’aime écouter de la musique pop. De plus, j'aime vraiment le scatting parce qu'on ne l'entend pas beaucoup dans la musique d'aujourd'hui. Je pense que la chanson montre que le bonheur est meilleur que l'argent.
(I like the song "Je Veux" by Zaz because it has a good beat, and I like to listen to pop music. In addition, I really enjoy the scatting because it is not heard a lot in today's music. I think the song shows that happiness is better than money.)

  • Practise reading the paragraphs. Upload your written work and record yourself reading all of them on SeeSaw by Friday, April 24. (I will open the SeeSaw activity on Wednesday for those who want to start earlier.)

  • le 27 avril - le 1 mai
      • Duolingo- "Restaurant" will be assigned today and is due Friday by 4:00. There are 5 lessons in total that can be done at your own pace.
      • Complete Avant l'audition on SeeSaw due Friday, May 1st.

      le 4 -15 mai

Final assignment « Les goûts musicaux » and Assessment Rubrique

Your final assignment will be to create a “Musical Tastes” booklet or PowerPoint. You have a choice as to whether you would like to make a hand written booklet, a word document booklet, or a PowerPoint-like presentation, all of which you can send via email or through SeeSaw. If you choose to create a written booklet, then you will need to drop it off at the school or take photos and send the pictures through SeeSaw. This assignment is due Friday, May 15th.

Your task is to survey family and/or friends by asking them what music they listen to “toujours, souvent, de temps en temps, rarement, et jamais.” (always, often, from time to time, rarely and never) Although it would be great if you could ask the questions in French, I understand that your family or friends may not understand the questions. Feel free to ask them in English but your written work MUST be translated into French. *Use the purple survey form we used in class to help with taking down the data.

*Use my example as a model on how to structure your sentences.

Title page: Title (Les goûts musicaux) and drawing or clip art depicting musicality. /2

Body:   Write up of 3 people and their musical tastes + yourself =4 entries (Grade 7)
Write up of 4 people and their musical tastes + yourself =5 entries (Grade 8)
-Use the survey to ask questions. If you do not have 3-4 extra people in your family then use this opportunity to connect with a friend, grandparent, cousin, etc.

      Marks:
      1.     Sentence structure. (Sentences in correct French formation, punctuation)
      2.     Conjugation of “Écouter” NOT “Aimer”. (Many of you are continuing to write about what you ‘like’ rather than what you ‘listen’ to.)
      3.     Use of ALL adjectives per page/person (de temps en temps, souvent, rarement, toujours, ne… jamais.) 5 adjectives x 4 pages= /20 gr. 7,
                                              5 adjectives x 5 pages= /25 gr. 8
      4.     Drawings/clip art depicting musicality. 1 per page

Example of written expectations per page:

Mon amie, Amy, écoute toujours de la musique country. Elle écoute aussi souvent de la musique folklorique. Amy n’écoute jamais de la musique rap parce qu’elle n’aime pas ça. De plus, elle écoute rarement de la musique rock. Enfin, Amy écoute de la musique pop de temps en temps.
*Please use my example as a model on how to structure your sentences in the "present".

      le 19-29 mai

*** Please go over your "Les goûts musicaux" assignment again, but be sure to look at the criteria I posted and the rubric I posted on here for le 4-15 mai. Some of you will be losing marks simply because you did not add pictures, make a title page, or forgot accents. Don't let these little things be the reason why you lose marks. They will not be marked late if you resubmit them as I purposely have not marked any of them yet to give you all a chance to make corrections.

      • Please re-send your "Les goûts musicaux" assignment onto SeeSaw. The projects are too large and it won't allow me to post them for you.
      • Read your "Les goûts musicaux" assignment to me by using the microphone tool, after submitting on SeeSaw.
      • Complete the time capsule on SeeSaw and have it completed by May 29th. Directions are on the activity.

You have quite a bit of work to do over the next few weeks so I have only assigned the "City" Duolingo activity. If you have already completed this activity then do another full activity to keep up your French learning and to gain 75 XP points :)

      le 1-5 juin

We've made it to the final month of school! Congratulations to you all for doing such a great job these past few months even though learning has been very different. I appreciate all of the time you've put into completing assignments and truly miss seeing you everyday in my classroom. Here are the activities assigned for this week...

Duolingo- "At Home" will be assigned today and is due Friday by 4:00. There are 5 lessons in total that can be done at your own pace.

Complete the "Paris Cultural Scavenger Hunt" on SeeSaw, also due Friday.

      le 8-12 juin

Duolingo: Complete "Food". It is due Friday by 4:00. *Please check out 'Stories' on the app to supplement learning and help with reading in French.

Complete the "French Class Assessment" on SeeSaw.

      le 15-19 juin

Duolingo: Complete "Habits". Also go over 'Stories' on the app.

Here is a French cultural Monopoly game that you can play on your own or with members of your family. Enjoy!!

**Do not forget to read my comments and make corrections when necessary on SeeSaw. There are many things that some of you have sent in that have not been corrected and sent back to me. I cannot give marks for work that isn't completed and sent back. Merci :)

Prends soin de toi et pratiquer la distance physique,

        Madame
